Thundercat Slideshow…..

July 11th, 2008

After local collaboration and effort a slide show of the Thundercat’s European Beach Challenge was produced here in Youghal.

All images were ones taken over the weekend of the Beach Challenge by myself. I then put them into a slideshow and Warren Tivey of Claycastle Recording Studios provided the backing tracks for the slideshow. Eddie Irwin of Irwins, Youghal, designed and printed the cover for the production and handled the distribution of the finished product.

We are all very proud of the finished product and of the fact it was all made in Youghal from start to finish.

The slideshow is available in DVD format and can be previewed and purchased here on line. It can also be purchased in Irwins, Main Street, Youghal if you wish.

    June 16th, 2008

The excitement is starting to build here in Youghal in anticipation of the 2008 European beach challenge race with the Thundercats, which is kicking off on June the 20th.

There are a lot of activities organised for all the family for this weekend starting off with a spectacular opening in Youghal Town on Friday evening. A huge fireworks display will herald the opening with music from the gig rig free to all.

Jason Ansbro and Noel Cashman (pictured above) are one of the local teams taking part in the challenge which will be kicking off in Claycastle’s Blue Flag Beach on Saturday morning with a load of activities planned around the event.

There just isn’t enough room in this post to fit in all that is happening so why not bring the family to Youghal for the weekend and see for yourself…

    I think I Can See the Sun………….

    Trees in Whitegate

I was down in Whitegate recently when I thought I could see the sun through the trees. It was such a rare sight this year I quickly took a photograph to make sure I wasn’t seeing things!!!

No this shot was not taken in Youghal Harbour. It was taken inside a mini submarine on the island of Lanzarote a few years ago.

  •

    Breaking Out……..

    April 28th, 2008

    Motorbike Through The Frame

This is a photograph I took way back in 2006. It was taken at a Grass Track event in Dungourney on a bitterly cold day at the start of the year.

When I processed the original image I thought that it would be a perfect candidate for a little fun. I’d seen an image coming out of a frame on the internet and so the idea was born.

After a few hours work in Photoshop this was the final result

P.S. Don’t try this at home..!!

Early Morning in Killeagh part 2…………

    Early Morning in Killeagh

This is another image taken at the same time as the first image in this post

Again it was taken just outside the village of Killeagh on a cold and frosty morning

Technical Info: Shutter Speed: 1/30Sec, Aperture: f22, ISO: 100, Lens Focal Length: 50mm

    Youghal March 2023

I came across this image when I was going through some of my older images on an external hard drive.

It was part of an entry into a competition held by the Southern Association of Camera Clubs.

The title was “Youghal, March 2023″. It shows what the famous Clock Gate in Youghal might look like in the year 2023.

Whatever about the decay of the building having water on the main street apparently could be a reality. The sea is constantly eroding underneath the town through underground channels and with global warming who knows what the coming years may bring.

I think it’s time to buy that Gondola………..all offers will be considered..!!!!

    Navigator of the Seas……….

    April 6th, 2008

On the 28th August 2007 the cruise liner The Navigator of the Seas sailed into Cobh.

I went to Roche’s point to capture the ship as it sailed into Cork Harbour.

Of all the images I think this one shows the grand scale of the ship when it’s compared to the houses in Roche’s Point.

A great party atmosphere was in Cobh for that weekend with huge crowds there to welcome the ship.

Some more images from the day can be seen on East Cork Camera Group’s website.

Technical Details: Shutter Speed: 1/250 secs, Aperture: f9.5, Lens focal length: 200mm, Iso: 100, Taken with a Tripod.

    Loughaderra Sunset……..

    April 2nd, 2008

    Loughaderra

Passing Loughaderra Lake this evening gave me a chance to try out my new Sigma 10 to 20 mm wideangle lens. First impressions are excellent and I can see new opportunities arising for it’s use.

I didn’t have much time, as you can see, before the sun disappeared below the horizon but I managed to capture this before it went.

Technical Details: Shutter Speed: 1/15 seconds, Aperture: f16, ISO: 100, Lens Focal Length: 10mm
